President Aigbokhan, Benin City-based Nigerian human rights lawyer, an advocate of open societies through media freedom and convener of Freedom of Information (FOI) Counsel has ‘racked up’ Ejiro Bravery fund to N985,000.
President sent a message from Benin City, Edo State of Nigeria to CASER Executive Director, Frank Tietie that he needed to express his support for restoring positive heroism in our local communities through reward-based commendations to individuals who do patriotic and selfless acts. That was the basis of his sending his token today.
The Citizens Advocacy for Social & Economic Rights (CASER) set up the Ejiro the Hero Bravery Fund to honour Ejiro, the famous tanker driver who saved 10,000 Nigerian lives and billions of naira worth of property when he drove a burning petrol-laden tanker from a densely populated area of Agbarho town, near Warri and parked it safely at the riverside, thereby avoiding a national disaster.

The fundraiser for Ejiro was informed by the knowledge as also reported on BBC Pidgin that Ejiro has four children and a pregnant wife who depended on the burnt truck, to survive. He would therefore need financial help but more especially, the fundraiser which has been tagged Bravery Fund for Ejiro the Hero will last for 30 days and would end on the 11th of July 2022. For each of the days, the fundraiser would run, CASER Executive Director, Frank Tietie has committed to taking one action to urge Nigerian leaders and citizens to do something to honour and celebrate Ejiro’s heroic act and by so doing, inspire other young people to selfless and patriotic acts whenever they have such opportunities.
CASER has therefore dedicated a bank account for the fundraiser. The bank statement of the account will be published and every Kobo realised would be given to Ejiro and his family.
Therefore, send donations to:
