Two suspects, Sulaimon Oladele and Azeez Oderinde, were arraigned before the Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan on an alleged N2.4 million land fraud.

The two men – Oladele, 45 and Oderinde, 54, whose addresses were not provided- are facing three counts of conspiracy, obtaining money under false pretences and stealing. They, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Prosecutor, ASP Olagoke Adegbenro, informed the court that the defendants committed the offences since 2020 at Akanran area of Ibadan. Adegbenro alleged that the defendants obtained N2.4 million from the complainant, Mr Olufemi George, under the guise of securing three acres of land on his behalf but failed to do so. The defendants were thereafter alleged to have converted the money for personal use and disappeared.

Adegbenro said that the complainant reported the case to the police and the defendants were recently caught.

The offences are said to have contravened Sections 516, 419 and 390(9) of the Criminal Law of Oyo State, 2000.

The Magistrate, Mrs Olasinmibo Sanusi, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N1 million each with two sureties in like sum. Sanusi ordered that the sureties must be blood relations with the same surnames as the defendants.

The case has been adjourned to November 23, 2026, for mention.
