The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) reports that 66 personnel from its formations nationwide have been sanctioned for various offences.
Audi stated that sanctions included dismissal, compulsory retirement, demotion, and warnings.
He explained that the Civil Defence, Correction, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) approved these disciplinary actions after investigations into allegations of misconduct.
The CG noted that sanctions were determined by the nature and severity of the offences.
He stated that some offences involved arms dealing and that officers found responsible for serious offences would face prosecution.
“Some will face prosecution, while others have been dismissed following prosecution.
“They will be prosecuted due to the seriousness and nature of their offences,” he said.
The NSCDC boss said all affected personnel underwent established disciplinary procedures, including orderly room trials and staff disciplinary committees, before the board approved the sanctions.
According to Audi, the affected officers came from State Commands, Zonal Commands, Area Commands, the National Headquarters, and other formations nationwide.
He emphasised that the NSCDC will not tolerate indiscipline or actions that undermine its professional standards.
The CG added that the exercise aims to reinforce discipline within the corps and deter personnel from violating its rules and regulations.
“The culture of any military or paramilitary organisation stands or is built on discipline,” he said.
Meanwhile, he disclosed that about 17,000 NSCDC personnel were recently promoted, describing the exercise as a morale booster for deserving officers and staff.
Audi said about 22,000 personnel took the promotion examination, with about 17,000 qualifying based on performance and available vacancies approved by the Federal Government.
He noted that promotion results are ready and will be displayed on the corps’ notice boards for personnel to verify.
He commended President Bola Tinubu for providing the support and enabling environment necessary for the promotion exercise and other institutional reforms within the corps.
