President Bola Tinubu has pledged to prioritise education, economic recovery, healthcare, and citizens’ welfare if re-elected in 2027.
Tinubu made this commitment at the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign rally in Port Harcourt on Saturday.
At the rally, co-organised by the Rainbow Coalition led by Chief Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Tinubu also stated that youth development would be a key focus.
The president encouraged Rivers residents to use their Permanent Voter Cards wisely to help build a better and more progressive Nigeria.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving retirees’ welfare through prompt and enhanced payment of pensions and gratuities.
He commended Wike and the people of Rivers for their strong support of his re-election bid.
The president thanked Wike for his dedication to reconciliation and peace-building during the state’s political crisis.
Tinubu also praised Gov. Siminalayi Fubara for his peaceful leadership and dedication to the state, stating, “The governor will never regret his commitment to restoring peace in the state.”
“I sincerely appreciate Wike, Fubara, APC members, and the Rainbow Coalition Campaign Council for their support,” he said.
Earlier, Wike assured the president that Rivers residents would strongly support his re-election bid.
He noted that Tinubu had demonstrated strong support for the state by appointing at least 47 Rivers residents to strategic national positions.
“We cannot take the president’s support for granted. Rivers people will vote overwhelmingly for the president in the 2027 presidential election,” he said.
Fubara also stated that Rivers would deliver at least three million votes in support of the president’s re-election bid.
“We will continue to work together to ensure the president’s victory; that is our promise,” he said.
He thanked the campaign team for providing Rivers residents the opportunity to demonstrate their political strength and support for the president.
Fubara thanked Tinubu for his commitment to developing the Niger Delta Region through key infrastructure projects, particularly the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway.
The NAN reports that while in the state, Tinubu inaugurated the Bonny-Bodo Road project.
He also presented the APC governorship flag to the party’s Rivers candidate, Mr Kingsley Chinda.
